This week, we are so pleased to finally share that we have achieved B Corporation (or B Corp) accreditation. We join a growing movement of organisations pursuing purpose as well as profit.

Since L.A's creation in 2017, our founder Louise has worked hard to use the business as a force for good. From our sustainable production site run on 100% dark green energy fuelled by a biodigester, to the business-wide commitment to our employees, local community & customers.

Louise says “Without people and the planet there would be no business, therefore BCorp provided the fundamentals to build our company. We rely heavily on nature to provide us with ingredients, as well as for our fermentation process, so it’s imperative that we protect the environment and natural world.”

“The great thing about being a young business is that we’ve been able to implement conscious & ethical practices from day one. For me, becoming a B Corp not only formalises this commitment, but it will also help us to learn more from other purpose-driven businesses within the movement.”

About B Corp: The B Corp certification addresses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score of over 80 while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency. L.A Brewery scored above benchmark at 90.9 . To complete the certification, the company will legally embed their commitment to purpose beyond profit in their company articles.

Some of the ways that we achieved and uphold our B Corp status are...

  • Minimising our environmental impact with recycling programmes & water conservation practices and sourcing packaging materials certified to independent environmental standards i.e. biodegradable pallet wrap, recyclable glass bottles, paper labels & packaging.
  • Maximising our economic impact by prioritising local suppliers.
  • Supporting a diverse, equal & inclusive workforce, with over 50% of L.A Brewery managers identifying as women.

“We are delighted to welcome L.A Brewery to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies who are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a force for good. We know that L.A Brewery are going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward”.

“We are pleased to have B Corps of all shapes and sizes as part of our community – from startups to multinationals and across many different industries. Business is a powerful force and B Corps demonstrate that you can do good in any sector. Welcoming L.A Brewery is an exciting moment because they have an opportunity to lead the way within the drinks industry. We and the rest of the B Corp community are really pleased to support L.A Brewery in paving the way for a new way of doing things”.
